Full face of Morphe make-up

I’ve recently discovered a Morphe store in the center of Amsterdam (Kalverstraat) and I’ve paid them a visit on behalf of my friend. They had a big sale going on, I believe It was one of the biggest sales they had. This gave me the idea to create a full face of Morphe make-up.

The Morphe products I bought

First off I was surprised that there was a whole Morphe store located in Amsterdam that I had no idea of. Second, the sale items looked amazing. I tested a few products here and there to find my shade match and I bought whatever item I needed to complete my full make-up look. The make-up artist that worked there also helped me to pick up the right products. While I was shopping and looking around in the store, I also wondered why people don’t really care for Morphe anymore?

Do people still care for Morphe make-up?

Am I the only one thinking about this? Do people still care for Morphe? I don’t know about you but I remember the time where everyone used to talk about Morphe. I mean everywhere I looked I saw and heard Morphe in the beauty community. It was rated as one of the top make-up brands with good quality products. What happened now? Why did people lose interest?

YouTube research on Morphe make-up

I went on the internet to see what happened because maybe nothing happened and maybe it was just me, right? YouTube was the first place I looked of course because I believe that Youtube was the first platform Morphe got its popularity from.

The first two videos that came up are; ‘The Evolution of Morphe…*the shadiest Makeup Brand by Smokey Glow’ and the second video named ‘The Downfall of Morphe cosmetics and is it too late for a Comeback? by Too much mouth
The title of the first video is funny, naming Morphe the shadiest makeup brand. But Why?
The second video confirmed my thoughts.

What do these videos claim?

Both videos talked about Morphe selling private label products. Private label products are products manufactured by a third party and the products are sold under another company’s brand. Morphe labels its brand on products that are not made by them but by other companies in other countries like China. I’m naming China because I checked the packaging on some of the products I bought and I saw that some of them are made in China. There is nothing wrong with private labeling as long as companies are transparent about it, which was not the case with Morphe.

Another reason why people don’t like Morphe is that they did several collaborations with YouTubers that didn’t always have a good reputation. This also ruined the brand’s image.

The third reason is that Morphe had a few vegan make-up products that happened to not be vegan after all. Vegan make-up products are products that do not contain animal ingredients. This really made people that live a veganism lifestyle angry and disappointed in the brand.

I already bought the items, before I knew all of this, so I went through with doing a full face of Morphe make-up as I had planned on doing. I’ve created two looks and I’ve filmed the process of one look in a talk through video on YouTube. Watch this video here or at the end of this blog post. I didn’t film the second look because I’ve used the same products but I chose two different eyeshadow colors out of the eyeshadow palette.

My overall review

I love the products, and I’m happy with the outcome of the looks . Both looks stayed good throughout the day. I love the pigmentation of the eyeshadow palette. The make-up artist did a great job finding my right foundation shade. The rich banana setting powder is amazing. I love how this powder brightens up my under eye area. I wasn’t sure about the brow pencil, but it worked great on my skin tone, the pencil is very precise. The foundation is soft matte and my face got dewy throughout the day. I love that it didn’t dry my face out. I didn’t get the chance to test all the products that I bought.

So far, the lipgloss, lip liner, loose powder, and eyeshadow palette are my favorites. The quality of the make-up is still good and for an affordable price. There is a wide range of products for every skin tone and skin type. I hope people will give Morphe another chance. As long as Morphe shows us that they take accountability to do better and that they’ve learned from their mistakes.
