How to cut curtain bangs

In this blog post, I’m sharing how to cut my curtain bangs but before I get into it did you know that there are levels to bangs? Yes, there are different types of bangs; China bangs, French bangs, see-through bangs, long bangs, short bangs, full bangs, curtain bangs, and probably many more.

If you’re reading my blog frequently you might come across the blog article where I consider a wig with bangs beginner-friendly, you can read that blog post here. If you’re considering trying a wig but you have no knowledge of how to install your wig, you might go for a (non) closure wig with bangs. It’s easy to put on and take off, they wouldn’t give you any headaches.

Curtain bangs everywhere.

I wanted to have curtain bangs for a while because it seemed like everywhere I looked I saw curtain bangs and I fell in love with them. The only challenge was that I wanted to cut the bangs myself and I did some research on how I could do it myself. After watching a few videos I was convinced that I could do it myself too and I did.

How did I cut my curtain bangs?

I decided to cut some curtain bangs on my easy everyday wig. This was actually the only good work-appropriate wig I had which means that I did not have room for mistakes. After installing the wig on my head, I went and wet the front section that I was going to cut and work on. I selected a section by using the highest part of my two eyebrows for the sides and 1,5 – 2 inches to the back. This parting section was made in an angled section, so you basically end up with a triangle part.

Tip

It’s better to cut your hair when it is wet because it causes less damage and split ends.

Then I put the rest of my hair in a ponytail so that it would not be in the way. I twisted that ‘triangle’ section and I used my mouth as a guideline to cut my bangs. Then I cut the twisted section straight with my hair scissors. When you comb through that part of the hair that you just cut, you will see that it will go in an angled motion.

Tip

Use special scissors that are made to cut your hair. This will also cause less damage and split ends.

Layering the sides

I also went and layered the two side sections of my hair. I did this by selecting one inch of hair on both sides of my head and I cut them in an angled motion. Then I went and styled my hair and that’s it. I have a video on YouTube where you can see how I styled my curtain bangs. I will place it for you below.
